Men’s slippers are a lightweight piece of footwear that can easily be put on and taken off. Slippers are designed to be worn indoors and provide warmth and comfort.
Types of men’s slippers
While all men’s slippers are meant to be worn indoors, they vary a bit in their design and features. Some use open-heel construction, meaning that the shoe has no back to it. This lets the wearer slip them on very easily, but may also allow the foot to accidentally come out more frequently. Closed slippers come with a heel guard that minimizes sliding and holds the foot in place. Slipper boots are a type of slipper that mimics a boot in that it rises part of the way up the wearer’s leg, providing additional warmth but not ankle support. Most slippers are equipped with rubber or fabric soles. Some slippers have minimal tread on their soles, while others are entirely smooth.
When to wear slippers
Slippers are designed to be worn with or without socks. On cold, cozy stay-at-home days, they can be paired with a hoodie or sweater for extra warmth. In some cases, it’s possible to put on slippers for a quick trip outdoors or in the car—provided that you’re walking on dry, stable surfaces. Outside of these conditions, slippers should only be worn inside and in situations where traction is adequate and you won’t be walking long distances.
